Modern Movement Improvement
The modern movement took place in the mid 20th century. This movement discovered that even simple mass produced items could be beautiful. What has survived of this style has led to designs that are both smart and attractive. This style uses mostly light but not cool colored walls and accessories in which use geometric designs in bright colors. Additionally it is common to see compact furniture paired with many unusual man made materials. The modern decorating style has commonly become known as retro today and is consider quite fashionable. This look can easily and inexpensively be achieved through smart shopping. Keep this and the following tips in mind if you are considering giving any room in your home a face lift.
If you are someone who loves color, then modern style is for you. There really isn’t a limit to how much color you bring into a modern style but you want to make sure nothing clashes together. You still want the room to be simple even with a bunch of colors. Starting off with a white base on the walls is a good way towards modernism.
Modern design is technically a clean cut style with a few accent colors which will make the style pop. Try to keep the design simple such as choosing picture frames and candle holders which match each other. You don’t want any of your items in the rooms design to clash and set off the modern theme you’re heading for.
Lighting is very important in the room as well. Floor to ceiling windows that offer a lot of sunlight are ideal, but if you do not have access to this kind of natural light there are other options. Consider a few very simple lamps or install some hidden track lighting. Both of these will give ample light without detracting from your design. Another great accessory that should be used in this room is an area rug.
Area rugs provide comfort and warmth to your home. Additionally they can help keep your home cleaner. Find an area rug, that does not have a pattern on it or find an area rug that is a solid neutral color. Make sure that the area rug fits well in the room. This means it should compliment your accessories and be the correct size for the space you use it in.
No matter what colors you choose in your modern style you’ll be glad to hear it won’t break the bank. Try Flea Markets and other thrift stores in your area for great retro decor for your design.
